"California Girl"?

- I have used the handle "California Girl" online for
over 15 years. I started my on-line experience on Compuserve. I spent hundreds
and hundreds of hours in their chat room (called CB) . I also spent thousands of
dollars too. The online rates at that time were from $6.00 to $12.00 an hour!
(yikes)

- At first I was timid and shy. At first the words on the
screen seemed cold, uninviting and just downright ridiculous. These perceptions
changed slowly however. The words were no longer just cold pixels on my monitor. I
watched chat evolve. This was before there were emoticons :-) I was there at the
beginning and I loved it!

- This was not a dating chat site, however I did find the love
of my life around 1984. After a year of chatting and without (!) ever exchanging
pictures we met in person. It was wonderful and we were both the same as we
perceived each other to be online. The relationship did not work out however, due to
extenuating circumstances (sigh). A year later I met someone else in the same
chat room. We eventually met and some years later, married. While this
marriage did not last, the reason for the break up had nothing to do with how we met.
When I returned to the on-line world I found actual sites, set up
specifically for the reason of meeting that *special someone*. I jumped in
immediately. You see, I know this can and does work.

- Online dating and chatting is not for everyone, but then
again, nor are single bars, dating someone at the workplace and the like. I've set
up this site for those that wish to explore it and see what is out there.
